Welcome to Souls Center Spokane,
I am Julia
I am a founding member and the Executive Director of our non-profit organization called Souls Center Spokane. What a privilege it is to see this community continue to evolve and flourish in such a dynamic way.
This incredibly modest endeavor began in 2016 when I wanted to create more content for women to explore ideas and concepts related to Sacred Divinity. I simply wanted a way to share mindful practices that served me well through what was the most harrowing and heart-wrenching time of my life.
Several years earlier, I was forced to the edge of life holding my child over the abyss of death. I spent years there, being a student of Death—reading everything I could get my hands on, holding vigils with families, attending numerous funerals of children, chatting online, becoming a hospice volunteer, offering a listening ear for hours on end, and developing language of Presence versus platitude.
This was the hardest, most rewarding and illuminating period of my life. All of it motivated by the fact that I might have to bear witness to my daughter preceding me in death. There is nothing like walking to the edge of life and there is nothing like walking away from that edge for a luminescent second chance. My daughter survived.
The whole experience awakened me to the precious fragility and wonder of life. The Mindfulness I engaged kept me sane, grounded and clear. I wanted to share them with anyone who was struggling for any reason.
Souls Center Spokane is a sanctuary for people to come home, to themselves. To ground and center. To feel nourished in belonging. To be a starting point for the lifelong journey of self-discovery, acceptance and True Love.
